Director's Column: Spring Cleaning and the Yard Sale
Well, it's definitely spring. The forsythia is blooming, the days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, and we are in the throes of spring showers. It looks like we've got some rainy days ahead of us, a good time to do some spring cleaning! While you do your spring cleaning, please put aside items for our upcoming yard sale on Saturday, May 4th! This is Bowen’s only fundraiser that reaches out to the surrounding community and many of our neighbors (even as far as New Hampshire!) look forward to it each year. I know this time of year can be busy, but we are counting on all our families to donate items, sign up for a shift on Friday and Saturday, and help make the day a success. When you help set up on Friday, May 3rd, you get first dibs on the items for sale! Traditionally, we use some of the proceeds from the yard sale to help throw our end of year picnic on the last day of school, May 31st. We celebrate the year by gathering on the Bowen hill for pizza, popsicles and fun. All you need is a picnic blanket and your family; siblings are welcome. This year, we will have some fun lawn games and activities, feel free to bring your favorite! It is a wonderful way to end the year and celebrate what makes our community so special. Let's hope by then we'll be done with the rain! Best, Nina
